I had been filming some workers sprucing up an 1878 ornate mansion built before the simple, uncluttered look had been invented. Intricate carvings, metal ornaments, and painting had to be inspected, cleaned, rebuilt or replaced.

The only thing they had in common was that nothing was within arm’s reach. As you can see from the photo below, a boom crane had to be rented to take the workers up to the work. When he showed up one morning with an extra safety harness, it became apparent that Juan determined that I needed to go up in the 150 foot boom and film the roofline and capture the unique view of Pine Plains.

Years of work in the theatre and film had inoculated me from the morbid fear of heights and mechanical failure that this offer would normally have imposed and have allowed me to offer the experience to you
Let’s go to the videotape!

And here I am, high at work over Pine Plains
